McLaughlin in passport appeal

His call comes after dealing with a number of cases on behalf of people whose passports had run out of date close to the departure which subsequently caused distribution to their holiday plans.

Councillor McLaughlin said: “I would appeal to anyone from north Antrim planning to go away on holidays over the next few months to check that their passport is valid. Our constituency office has been working on behalf of a number of people in this area who ran into difficulties after they discovered that their passports were almost out of date.

“We will shortly be coming into the busiest time of the year for passport renewals and it can take several weeks to get passport issues resolved.

“People may end up having to go to Dublin with documentation to ensure that they get their passport in time to travel, and there may be occasions that people will simply lose out on their holiday as there is no time to process the application”.

Cllr McLaughlin concluded by saying: “Forms for a new passport application or renewal of an existing one, are available from our constituency office and/or any representative of our party in the area. These, along with proper photos can be checked and signed by MLA Daithi McKay or any elected representative from the three council areas within north Antrim”.
