Melissa helps Little Princess Trust

That’s exactly what one kind-hearted Leaney Primary School pupil did - in front of the entire school assembly last week.

Ten-year-old Melissa Henry from just outside Armoy was adamant that she would never get her hair cut until one evening she and her mum Kathleen had a chat.

Kathleen explained: “Melissa had never had her hair cut professionally, I just trimmed it for her over the years and the one night I was blowdrying her hair and said to her that I wished she would get her hair cut. Melissa’s hair has a natural curl in it and she just said ‘no way’.

“Then I said to her that someone else could make use of her hair and explained that there is a charity which makes wigs for children who are going through cancer treatment. She instantly picked up her iPad and looked up the Little Princess Trust and said ‘I really want to do this’ and before I knew it she had pressed the button to order the fundraising pack from the charity.”

On Tuesday, Emma from Bleu Hair Design in Ballymoney went along to Leaney and gave Melissa her first hair cut.

To make a wig for the Little Princess Trust, each volunteer has to donate at least seven inches of hair but brave Melissa donated 11 inches.
