Hazelwood students celebrate success
Hosted by assistant principals Mr Brennan and Mrs Drennan, the assembly hall was filled to capacity to celebrate another highly successful year at the Whitewell Road college.
A Level and GSCE students celebrated their successes along with staff, parents, VIPs and friends of the college, including Lady Elizabeth Bloomfield MBE, Belfast Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon, Newtownabbey Mayor Thomas Hogg, Nigel Dodds MP and Alban Maginness MLA.

Hide AdHazelwood celebrated excellent GSCE results this year, with 83 per cent of pupils achieving five or more A* - C grades.
Principal Kathleen Gormley recognised the determination of the college’s students and the outstanding teaching and learning environment created by all members of staff.
Guest speaker Mrs Jackie Henry, senior partner at Deloitte, commented on the excellent achievements of the GCSE and A Level students and spoke with high regard about the wonderful partnership the college has forged with Deloitte over the past year.
Mrs Henry presented 131 GCSE students and 52 A Level students with certificates.

Hide AdLady Elizabeth Bloomfield MBE, a devoted friend of the college, awarded the ‘Lady Bloomfield Cup’ for Outstanding Achievement to Grace Tobin.
Rounding off the evening, the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Nichola Mallon awarded Ralph Santos and Cathy Yorke with The Niblock Cup for outstanding achievement at GSCE. Following this, the Mayor of Newtownabbey, Alderman Thomas Hogg awarded David Middleton and Aine Mulvenna with The Morrow Cup for top A Level performance.
“The night was a true celebration of achievement in Hazelwood Integrated College,” a spokesperson said.
