Knock them down

I REFER to the Star letter page 2/3/12 and in particular one with reference to a shrine at the Maze from Eleaner Anderson.

In paying tribute to Service and Sacrifice, I do not wish to enter into what politicians say, however the question of a shrine in the heart of a unionist Lagan Valley constituency, does not bear thinking about and if there is one thing unionist politicians can agree about surely must be for the demolition of the H Block and Hospital wing. We must never forget about some 29 prison officers who were killed in service with many more physically wounded or psychologically damaged and to this very day they are still under threat.

It would be an insult to the memory of those men and women of Northern Ireland Prison Service of a Hunger Strike Memorial Shrine were set up.

Unionist politicians stance on the Maze left a lot to be desired an opportunity now exists to make amends by uniting to demand demolition.

Proud to Serve, Boardmills
