Minister launches £2.2m social housing scheme
The Minister was joined by North Belfast MP Nigel Dodds and local Councillor Phillip Brett at the site of the new apartment development on the Antrim Road.
A total of 21 apartments are being built at the site by Clanmil Housing Association. The one and two-bedroom properties will accommodate the needs of active older people.

Hide AdCommenting on the scheme, work on which is due to be completed by January 2015, Mr McCausland said: “One of my key objectives as Housing Minister is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to access good quality accommodation appropriate to their needs. I welcome the construction of these new homes which are being developed in response to a demand for this type of more easily managed accommodation.”
Mr Dodds commented: “Having lobbied hard for extra housing provision in the Glengormley area to meet rising demand, I am very pleased to see this development getting off the ground as it will go some way to addressing that need.
“Alongside party colleagues, I will continue to lobby for further social and affordable housing developments in the area.”
Steve Amos, Chair of Clanmil Housing Group added: “We have worked closely with the local community and their political representatives in delivering this scheme and very much appreciate their help and support. We look forward to welcoming our new tenants to their new homes early next year.”
