For Nat King Cole, it was chestnuts roasting on an open fire. For Chris Rea, it was driving home for Christmas.
We all have our own special Christmas memories – whether it’s of a nativity play, a loved one coming home or a much-longed for present sitting under the tree.
Maybe it’s just sitting in front of your favourite Christmas movie with a selection box.
Here some of the best known faces from the Causeway Coast and Glens area have shared their special Christmas memories with us.

5. Pauline Carville
Actress Pauline Carville has recently been thrilling audiences in Coleraine's Riverside Theatre as a member of the cast of Sleeping Beauty.
Pauline said: "It is that time of the year again where I have to admit I get that warm fuzzy feeling and there is magic in the air. Yes, it's Christmas of course and that's when nostalgia sets in and I remember Christmas when I was a child. My memory of Christmas was that family was at the forefront of every plan. I got to spend quality time with my Mummy, Daddy, brothers and sisters watching Christmas movies such as It's A Wonderful Life and Meet Me in St Louis where Judy Garland sings Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, which is still one of my favourite Christmas songs.
"My favourite Christmas memory, although there have been many, stands out because of how happy I felt. It was when I was 8 years old and I was hoping that I had been good enough for Santa to bring me my year long desire of getting rollerboots. I was overwhelmed with joy when amongst my other gifts I saw the rollerboots. I felt so much love for my parents because they had told Santa I deserved them!
"The last few years I have spend the run up to Christmas in Portballintrae where the crisp air and fog over the sea makes it feel so special. My walks along the bay are so beautiful, seeing the lights over the boathouse shining on the water then passing the Bayview Hotel seeing the smiling faces of those enjoying a drink in the glass fronted bar/restaurant.
"I was so lucky this year to be starring in panto at The Riverside Theatre in Coleraine playing the Wicked Fairy and then having the pleasure of coming back to Portballintrae each night. Panto season is always special to me, however I found this year extra special as I worked with the lovely cast and staff at The Riverside Theatre adding to the magic of Christmas 2023."
