Permanent honour for Wilfie?
The late Wilfred McFadden, who gave more than 30 years service to the district before passing away on February 14, will be commemorated in a way to be decided by the council’s committees.
After a flood of tributes to the deceased council stalwart in recent weeks, a word of thanks was passed from Wilfie’s family to councillors through DUP colleague and friend Jim McElroy.

Hide AdCouncillor McElroy went on to call for the creation of a memorial for Councillor McFadden, in the form of a park, garden or road.
He said, “In the lifetime of this council which is 14 months or so, could we have something named in memory of the late councillor McFadden, if possible in the Loughbrickland district?
“Maybe the Loughbrickland Community Association could have some thought on that also.”
While details of the exact nature of the memorial are yet to be agreed, it is hoped a decision will be taken before May next year.
