Planners refuse permission for mobile home

MOYLE Council has disagreed with the decision of planners who have refused permission for the retention of a mobile home to the rear of 65 Churchfield Road, Ballycastle.

The applicant is Mr G. Laverty but planners say there are no over-riding reasons why the mobile is essential in a rural location and a place to live could not be located within a settlement.

And planners say the proposal is not for the provision of temporary residential accommodation pending the development of a permanent dwelling nor has the applicant provided satisfactory evidence that a residential caravan is a necessary response to the particular circumstances of the case and that genuine hardship would be caused if planning permission was refused.

Planners further say the site lies in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a caravan is an inappropriate form of development in this distinctive area.
