Police investigate New Mossley '˜hate crime'

Police officers are investigating a '˜hate crime' in the Carn Drive area of New Mossley during which a Polish woman and her two children were racially abused.

The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, February 1, but details were only made public by the police this week.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “On this occasion, a Polish national and her two children were subjected to a barrage of racist remarks as well as having stones thrown at their windows. Initial enquiries have identified a male youth as one of those involved and the appropriate follow-up action is under way.”

Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who has any further information that could assist with the investigation, to contact investigating officers in Newtownabbey on the non-emergency number 101.
