Police say rape did not take place

Police in Lisburn have said an alleged sexual assault, reported at the start of the month, did not take place.

A spokesperson for the police said: “Police are no longer investigating an allegation of serious sexual assault on a 23 year old woman in the Bell Steele Road area of Poleglass on November 1.

“After extensive inquiries by detectives from the PSNI’s Rape Crime Unit, police are satisfied an assault did not take place.
