Rosha interning in Washington DC

Rosha Canavan will intern in Washington D.C. for eight weeks as part of the Washington-Ireland Program (WIP). Getting onto the scheme was highly competitive with over 500 students from across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain competing for a few coveted places.

Rosha, who was a student at St Patrick’s Academy, Dungannon, before going on to study Law and Political Science at Trinity College, Dublin, said she is looking forward to her once in a lifetime trip to America.

“I am honoured to be awarded the privilege of travelling to Washington as part of this unique leadership and development programme,” she said.

“I look forward to working with my fellow interns and to making the most of every second of this incredible opportunity.”

Hillary Clinton is a supporter of the Washington - Ireland Program and its students.

“Many of WIP’s alumni are now emerging as a new generation of leaders committed to peace, stability and prosperity in both Northern Ireland and the Republic,” she said.

The Washington Ireland programme is a cross-community charity which offers young leaders the opportunity to live and work in Washington D.C, while completing leadership training and public service projects.
