They joined a number of members of college staff and Myles Tyrell, youth worker at Woodlands Presbyterian Church in the town, for a fun-filled two days.

The destination this year was Castlewellan Castle and staff and pupils alike were, according to the school “blown away by the beauty of the surroundings”.

The pupils participated in a number of activities throughout the weekend including trying to crack the ’Peace Maze’, a photo challenge in Newcastle and team games back at the conference centre.

A statement from Carrickfergus College continued: “Myles Tyrell spoke on Peter and the different roles he had – follower, failure, man of faith.

“The students were able to really delve into the bible and think about what was being said to them.

“A prayer room was organised by Rebecca McMillan, year 14 pupil and member of the school’s Scripture Union Committee.

“The weekend was full of laughter and fun and the students are looking forward to the next one already.”
