Search for missing man has tragic ending

Police and concerned family, friends and neighbours had organised searches for William who had last been last seen at a hospital in the Londonderry area at approximately 3.10pm on Tuesday, 31 December.

William, who is described as vulnerable, is 5’8” approximately, slim build, brown hair and he was last seen wearing a red baseball cap, jeans and a dark coloured jacket.

Newbuildings Community Centre, which helped co-ordinate the search under the auspices of the PSNI, today said it had been called off.

The centre posted a message on its Facebook page this afternoon saying: “William (Billy) Mowbray has been located, sadly when he was found he had passed away. The family wish to thank everyone for there help and support. No further details will be disclosed at this time.”
