Storey interviewed by pupils at Stormont

North Antrim DUP MLA and Chairman of the Assembly Education Committee Mervyn Storey has taken part in this year’s BBC School Report.

More than 1,000 schools across the UK made the news on the biggest ever School Report News Day.

Commenting after being interviewed by pupils from the NEELB studios in Antrim Mr Storey said:

“This was very enjoyable event.

“It was a unique opportunity for our pupils to turn their classroom into a news room.

“The NEELB studios were the only live output from Northern Ireland and not only was the programme broadcast on the BBC website, it was also on the red button across the UK.

“The BBC was extremely happy with the event and commented on the professionalism of the students involved.

“I understand that some of the BBC staff were getting phone calls to their mobiles throughout the day asking where the studio was and how the programme was being produced ‘outside’ of the BBC infrastructure.

“This was all down to the excellent facility and work of those involved in the Antrim Board Centre. I would commend them for all their hard work and dedication, they as well as our young people made this an other day for us to be proud of Northern Ireland talent.”
