Talks over railworkers’ £250

RAIL Minister Danny Kennedy says talks are ongoing between Translink and trades unions representing Northern Ireland railway staff concerning the payment of a £250 annual sum due to the workers.

East Londonderry MLA George Robinson asked the Minister “in relation to the two year pay freeze for staff at NI Railways, when the £250 annual sum for coalition grades will be paid to all staff.”

Mr Kennedy replied: “Translink advises me that it is at an advanced stage of negotiations with the unions that represent NI Railways staff within the Conciliation grades including discussion in relation to the £250.

“It would not be appropriate to discuss the detail of these negotiations between Translink management and unions as it would compromise the sensitive nature of the discussions.”
