The talented singer has secured a place in the next round of the competition, singing the One Direction hit ‘Little Thinks’ with his own arrangement, accompanying himself on guitar, and is well-placed for the live finals having got the thumbs up from judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

The Oakgrove Integrated College pupil obtained a diploma in business studies at NWRC at the behest of his father, Paul O’Keefe, who wanted his son to get a qualification: “It was not that he did not want me to go ahead with a music career, it was more that he wanted me to do well in my life and in my career. He thought by going to music group it wasn’t going to give me a career that I could support myself or a future family, and that is why he pushed me down that route. It is really hard to get into the music industry, but now by doing this I think I have showed him that I can do it and it can happen,” said Jordan.

“The day of the auditions there were about 35 people there, but before that we had to go through the auditions process. The staff were wonderful. I auditioned the first time in front of someone like a producer; they videoed it and then I got a phone call a few weeks later.

Accompanied by mum Deborah and brother Andrew, to the judged audition in Manchester: “The judges comments were really brilliant. Whenever I got on stage they chatted to me and made me feel at ease. It was brilliant.”

Asked if he was intimidated by Simon Cowell, he said: “I wasn’t. I was more determined to impress him. You only get this opportunity once and I had to make sure I made the most of it.”

With four ‘Yes’ votes, he also got a thumbs up on Twitter from 1D’s Niall Horan.
