Threw away cannabis

A LURGAN man has been fined £100 after being caught in possession of cannabis.

He was 28-year-old Ryan Conlon from Malcolm Road. On June 4, 2007, a mobile patrol in Legahory observed the defendant walking away from a property, put his hand into his pocket and throw an object onto the ground. It was a small block of brown resinous substance wrapped in clingfilm which police believed to be cannabis.

At the time Conlon denied throwing it on the ground and denied it was his.

In court he pleaded guilty to possession of the class C drug and in his defence his solicitor said it was an offence of an historic nature and Conlon had made significant efforts to straighten out his life.

Conlon was fined 100 and a destruction order was made for the seized substance.
