Upcoming Newtownabbey resurfacing works welcomed

The Department for Infrastructure has confirmed resurfacing projects are to take place in St Annes Crescent, Carnvue Drive and on a section of the Glebe Road in Carnmoney.

South Antrim MLA Pam Cameron said: “The road conditions in these areas had been in a poor condition for some time. The commencement of resurfacing schemes at these locations around early December will be a great news for road users and residents.”

Glengormley councillor Alison Bennington, also welcomed the announcement and stated that the schemes were “long awaited for and much needed”.

Ms Bennington said: “I’m pleased the lobbying on behalf of local residents here has paid off. I’m also continuing to press the Department for Infrastrucure to prune sections of the large area of trees along Prince Charles Way which has become very overgrown.”

Ald Phillip Brett added: “This Newtownabbey road improvement scheme is a considerable investment in the area, however we will continue working with the Department to identify other areas of need and to ensure they are maintained to a high standard. I’m delighted this long anticipated work will be starting very soon.”

Road works at Carnvue Drive and a section of Glebe Road are presently scheduled to take place between November 30 and December 4 and St Annes Crescent between December 7 and December 9.
