Twelfth Glasgowbury not small but massive success

The day saw some of the most exciting performances from the best in new and established homegrown NI talent, all of whom stepped up to the plate to show their worth at the country’s best festival.

One of the most ambitious efforts for the festival yet saw a bill including headliners Therapy? alongside The Japanese Popstars, Fighting With Wire, Paddy Nash, over 50 other musical acts, a comedy tent, kids activities, village area, dance arena and much more.

The event was a special one for local rock icons Therapy? headlining and the band were eager to play to the home crowd.

“Paddy (Glasgow) has been in touch with us in one way or another for a few years now and we’ve either been double-booked or unable to do it before,” said bassist Michael McKeegan ahead of the festival.

“But we spoke together as a band from last year and were very specific in saying that we’ll do it this time round, it’s the one we all agreed we wanted to do.”

Thousands of revellers gathered atop the stunning Eagle’s Rock location just outside of Draperstown to witness NI rock giants Therapy? take the headlining mantle to a new level, playing classic hits from Mercury nominated Troublegum as well as from their latest album A Brief Crack of Light.

“2012 was another really successful year for the festival and saw some of the most exciting performances from acts yet - people really seemed to step up their game at the festival this year,” said festival organiser Paddy Glasgow.

“Everyone took massive steps with their performances and having Therapy? cap the night off with songs from throughout their illustrious career was a really exciting moment for the festival’s history,” he added.

“It’s a joy after 12 years to see ever growing crowds coming out in support of new and homegrown music and having thousands of people at Eagle’s Rock genuinely interested and absorbing the music and the atmosphere is a fantastic sight and feeling. Roll on Glasgowbury 2013!”
