Dozens of firms arepaying DVA to getlocal driver details

THE Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) handed information about local drivers to dozens of companies during the last financial year, it’s been revealed.

Finance, insurance, car parking and mileage companies as well as garages paid up to £5 to get information on local drivers. They include DA Stewart Accident Repairs, which operates in the East Londonderry area. Quinn Insurance and Translink Claims were amongst the insurance companies who forked out.

The former Vehicle Licensing Minister Alex Attwood said “the DVA does not sell keeper details” but administration fees ate charged.

“In the last financial year, the total revenue received for release of keeper information to companies was £44,912.50,” he said.

Mr Attwood said he was not entirely satisfied with the situation and wrote to DfT about the conduct of car park companies.
