Ulster level success for local floral enthusiasts

THE borough is celebrating further Ulster in Bloom success.

Carrick was second in the Large Town category of the annual event, behind Bangor and ahead of Lisburn.

There was reward for the Brighter Whitehead Group receiving the Community Rail Halt Award for work at Whitehead Train Station, while in the Best Station category, Carrick was second overall.

Speaking at the results ceremony, Veronica Palmer, Chairman, Translink, said: “Despite some challenging weather conditions, participants have produced exquisite and clever floral and plant displays capable of transforming areas and delighting both local people and visitors, enhancing social and economic prosperity.

“I would like to congratulate all our winners and runners-up and I hope their delightful displays will provide inspiration for others to try their hand at gardening.”

The Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition is organised by the Northern Ireland Local Government Association with the support of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
