Voodoo Train to play Black Horse Bar

The Mid-Ulster band, who have just been confirmed to play at Belfast’s Woodstock Blues Festival in August, will play a set this Sunday, May 6th at the Cookstown club.

The group are set to impress with their covers of some of the 70’s classic rock and blues tunes including songs from Free, ZZ Top, Humble Pie and Lynard Skynard. Consisting of five members Voodoo Train’s music has bene described as ‘Rock Music As It Should Be Played’ (Mid-Ulster Mail). Consisting of the classic rock line-up of drums, bass, twin guitars, and a lead singer, the band provide a set that can last for between one to three hours, depending on the venue. Local DJ Francie Quinn is another big fan of the group and has played many Voodoo Train tracks during his time on local radio station Mid 106.

They have performed to packed pubs in The Black Horse and Brewery Lane Cookstown, The Cellar Bar and Regans, Draperstown, Walsh’s Hotel, Maghera, Jaggers, Dungannon and Bogans, Omagh.

As testament to the band’s rising status within Northern Ireland’s music scene, they have provided regular support to one of Ireland’s most iconic rock bands of the 60’s and 70’s; Taste. They have twice supported the iconic group in both the Black Box and the Spring and Airbrake last year with further support slots coming up this summer. The group will also be launching Cookstown’s first Blues Sunday in the Black Horse.

Set to take place once a month, the group, along with rock and blues bands from across the province, will play at the Cookstown premises from teatime to about 10.30pm. Watch this space for further details.
