Activities are designed around the young peole who access the service, allowing them to develop their confidence and self-esteem and enjoy social opportunities with the support of the highly- trained and experienced youth team.

The friendly Youth Matters Team organise fun-packed days and evenings out, including Laser Quest, ice-skating, trips to pantomimes, the cinema, making films, travelling abroad on exchange programmes and adventure sports.

Personal Development Programmes are available to help those who use the service to learn new skills and achieve OCN accreditation while having fun. There is also the opportunity to join the Youth Action Team, a group of young people who advise staff on young people’s issues. Free Disability Awareness Training for youth and community organisations, schools and universities can be provided.

Youth Officer for the Youth Matters Programme Gillian Boyd is encouraging young people to get involved. She stated: “Through our service, young people have improved access to inclusive and positive activities within their local area which impact on their general health and wellbeing. Our Personal Development programmes are designed to address any needs or issues identified by the young people allowing them to challenge themselves in a safe and supported environment and enabling them to become active citizens in society”.
