Carniny composed themselves and a throw in from William Francey found Sam Magee who turned and equalised from distance.

It was all pressure from Carniny with the two wingers Graham and Greer feeding McMullan up front but a break from Coleraine saw them play past McKee in defence and take the lead with a second goal. Carniny didn’t let their heads drop and the hard working Magee in midfield won the ball and his long range shot went in for another equaliser.

The boy’s hard work began to pay off and Leon Graham robbed a Coleraine player and his shot was too powerful for the Coleraine keeper. With Francey and McKee controlling the defence, the latter’s pass up the line went to Graham who beat his man and slot a goal home for 4-2. Then Greer was quicker to react to a Coleraine throw and headed on to McMullan to get his first of the day.

With Carniny pressing, Magee won a header which found Leon Graham in a scoring position for his hat-trick and make it 6-2. Good interplay in midfield then saw Magee square to Cormac McMullan to score his second. A Carniny corner caused panic in Coleraine defence and Magee’s shot fell to McMullan and his shot went in via a deflection for his hat-trick and the half ended 8-2.

With the game over as a contest the boys were sent out with the message to try to retain the ball and Matthew Wylie came on in midfield. The boys probed with their passes and good work from Wylie, saw him pass to McMullan who in turned played a 1-2 with Magee only to be tackled as he was lining up his shot. Carniny forced a corner but Coleraine broke and faced with a 1v1, Adam Douglas pulled off a great save. Magee then broke down the left and his cross was touched on by McMullan to Greer who lifted the ball over the keeper from 8 yards. Final action of the game saw McMullan win the ball and his pass to Sam Magee was well finished for the game to end 10-2.

A great result for the boys who should gain promotion to the second tier of the league where the opposition will certainly pose a greater threat.
