Meet the men from Brigade

THE prestigious Northern Bank Senior Cup final takes place at Bready on Friday and Saturday between Brigade and Donemana.

The Beechgrove side defeated Coleraine in a closely fought semi-final and here we take a closer look at their squad for this weekend’s final.

Brigade

Mattie Moran - Opening batsman who is having his best season ever, he likes nothing better than to attack the new ball and has got his side off to a flier in a number of games this season.

Gareth McKeegan - Left hand opening batsman who has shown big improvement since moving to Beechgrove, likes to play his shots to all parts of the ground, also a very capable wicket keeper.

Iftikhar Hussain - He is one player that the Brigade supporters will be looking to with both bat and ball, hit a superb century in their semi-final win at Coleraine.

Johnny Thompson - Having a great season especially with the bat, has scored over 700 runs already. He is also one of the best opening bowlers in the North West and has recently been called into the Ireland A side.

Harry Chappell - The young Englishman has found life difficult since his arrival, however he has shown on a couple of occasions that he is a decent batsman, he is also a superb fielder.

Trevor Britton - Has made the number six spot his own, he is very dependable in holding an end together, his off spin will be used quite a bit in this game.

Dean Curry - A newcomer to the side this season, the youngster is one for the future. A left handed batsman he has the potential to do well, also bowls medium pace.

Mark Snodgrass - Another new arrival at Beechgrove, he can be very dangerous in the lower order where he can accelerate the run rate, also bowled well in the semi final.

Ryan Brace - Hasn’t played as often as he would like to because of injury which has curtailed his bowling, a good all round cricketer and very sharp in the field.

Nick Donnell - The youngest in the side, he gives one hundred per cent in every game and can inspire more experienced team mates, a decent pace bowler who may share the new ball with Johnny Thompson.

Graham Moore - Hasn’t been a regular this season but when he does play he hasn’t let any one down, he may play in this one as a replacement for skipper Simpson.

Chris Dixon - Another talented youngster who has played a number of senior games this season, has scored lots of runs for the second eleven and won’t let anyone down if selected.

Billy Culbert - Was a regular earlier in the season and has been playing for the seconds, still lacks experience but is a useful all rounder.
