Football: Carrick aiming to defeat United again

StePHEN Small’s Carrick Rangers take on Ballymena United in the Carling Premiership this afternoon (Saturday) and the boss admits they’d happily settle for the same result they landed when the two teams last met at Warden Street in August.

“I suspect that Roy Walker and his team will still be smarting from the 2-0 defeat that Tuesday night at The Showgrounds. Let’s be honest, we know that any team we beat will feel that it’s a bad result for them,” admitted the manager.

“We’ll be happy if this match brings the same outcome as the first one did.”

He added: “Ballymena are a very strong team with a host of quality players, including goal-grabber Gary McCutcheon. But I think we beat them fair and square the last time and, although they will be hell-bent on revenge, I see no reason why we can’t get a result once more,” insisted Small.

The match, which will be played at Seaview, kicks off at 3pm.
