“I am absolutely delighted to be in the next round. I told the players before kick-koff that getting our name in the hat was all that mattered,” said Reds’ boss, Davy McAlinden. “We scored against the run of play, no doubt about it. I thought we had a good spell in the first-half but they started the second-half well.

“Then, up pops Paul Maguire to stick in the winner and that is what quality players can do for you. I knew it would be difficult but the boys all stood up to it and did the club proud.”

Ciaran Stitt was called into action after only two minutes to deny Richard Lecky who looked odds-on to score.

After 34 minutes a flick-on by Stuart McMullan fell to Gerald Gillan who saw his shot strike the crossbar.

Just before the break, Neil Coulter went close for the home side when his shot struck the base of the upright.

What proved to be the match winner came on the hour. James McCabe’s pass found Maguire and he steered the ball into the corner of the net.
