A tight match was expected after the sides had shared the points in their league game in October, but Southside took the lead after just two minutes when Stewart Nixon’s inch-perfect pass found David Calderwood, who calmly side footed his shot neatly into the corner of the net.

Despite Southside’s dominance, the second goal didn’t come until the 50th minute when a typical driving run from Nixon, leaving three Immaculata players in his wake, created the chance for Calderwood to score his second.

Five minutes later, from a Sam McNiece free kick the keeper spilled the save and Dylan Graham was on hand to head the ball goal wards. Taking a deflection along the way it ended up in the net in off the post.

The brought to an end a remarkable 2013 for Southside, who lost just two games in the calendar year in all competitions.

Exciting days lie ahead in 2014 with the team still competing in NIBFA Cup and the quarter final place secured in the SBYL Cup as well as pushing for the league title.
