He said: “There are three elements to the Taster Session. First there will be some fitness sessions to get warmed up for training. Then you will get under way with some rugby coaching, under the expert eye of official Ulster Rugby coaches.

“There will also be some art workshops and everyone who participates will receive a free t-shirt.

“We can also reveal that there will be a special appearance by an Ulster Rugby player.”

He added: “The following day, on Saturday February 22, Ulster Rugby will also put on a free bus to bring those who attend the Taster Session to Lisburn Rugby Club, to experience what it would be like to be a part of a rugby club.

“We are really excited about these unique sporting events and must thank Ulster Rugby for delivering them to the community at no cost.

“We always welcome ways in which we can increase sporting activity for young people in the Colin area and would encourage everyone who is interested to give it a go.

“The events are suitable for boys and girls aged 7 and over and parents are more than welcome to attend. If you are interested call me at Colin Neighbourhood Partnership on 028 9062 3813 or email [email protected] to book a place.”

Ulster Rugby’s DCAL Programme Coordinator, Darryl Petticrew, commented: “It is crucial that we work with people from the community to grow the game, and this Taster Session is a great way to introduce rugby in an area where previously it wasn’t really an option.
