GOLF: Bobby dazzles at Bushfoot

Bobby Jenkins, playing off 21, returned 40 points to top the field.

It was a very tidy front nine with only two double bogies, at the first and the fifth, and Bobby collected 21 points for his efforts. The back nine would have been very similar but for an unfortunate blank at the tenth hole. However, as only six more shots were dropped Bobby still gained 19 more points for his winning tally of 40.

David Cartmill was runner up with his 39 points from his 26 handicap. He succumbed to a triple bogey seven at the par four sixth but balanced this up with a nice birdie at the eighth and got 23 points in return.

This standard was too good to maintain but David was able to keep things relatively steady, even with a ‘no score’ at ten and added nineteen further points to keep hold of second spot.

In the low section we saw rock band fan Brian Walker scoring 38 points to win that section. Playing off 9 Brian didn’t bother to score at the second hole, this curtailed the scoring for the front nine to seventeen points. The back nine was very different as Brian was able to add twenty one more points for his final 38 points haul.

Second in the low section came Ken Caskey with another 38 points. A double bogey at the first was Ken’s only slip up on the way out as he scored 20 points for the nine.

Another six at the tenth restricted the back nine to 18 points and this could not challenge Brian Walker’s 21 on countback.
