GOLF: Cameron in prime position

Six handicap David scored a birdie four at the fourth and followed this up with two birdie threes at the fifth and ninth. This gave him 24 points for the front nine. Ten gave up a birdie as did the eighteenth and David finished on top with a score of 39 points.

This proved to be three better than Ballycastle native Trevor Stewart. Also playing off six Trevor birdied the par five fourth and the par four eighth on his way to 19 points out. Another birdie four at ten was followed by a two at eighteen. 17 back, 36 total.

Paul Elliott and Robert Taggart shared 34s with countback keeping Paul on top. He had two birdies going out and another two coming in. Robert matched the two inward birdies but finished with 13 for the last five and fourth spot. Robert White’s 33 points took fifth place for the eleven handicapper.

Wayne Telford won his fifth out of six gross prizes with his return of 55. A birdie three at the second hole and eight pars gave him a 34 out and two more birdies at ten and seventeen gave him 21 back. Gross 55 for the fifteen holes in play, well done Wayne.

Next week sees another sweep and also the third week of the Winter League.

EMSA Belfast are again sponsoring the Winter league tournament at Rathmore Golf Club. Team Five, headed by Willie McIntyre, leads the League with a two week score of 181. This is three points up on Team One, captained by Paul Elliott, on 178. Third place is taken by Team Nine with 170 points and with Frankie McDonald at the helm.

The early leaders in the individual section are D McKay (Team 5) on 61 points, R White, W Clarke, Willie McIntyre and Frankie McDonald all on 61 points and G Bradley with 59.
