Helen wins stableford

THE Competition on Tuesday past was the Mary Peters Trust 18th hole stableford which was won by Helen Smyth with a terrific 40 points.

Helen now proceeds to play in the Finals Day at Masserene Golf Club later on in the year, along with the Lady Captain, runner up with a very commendable 37 points was Fionnuala Crossey.

Conditions on Tuesday were very difficult due to the recent wet weather and therefore the course was very wet and heavy meaning the competition Standard Scratch moved to 70, so well done to both Helen and Fionnuala for such fine scoring. Helen also reduced her handicap from 17 to 16.

Team News - It is a very busy time for the teams at present with lots of matches taking place. The Junior Foursomes played their return match to Fintona and were unfortunately beaten as were the Minor Team who lost out to Lurgan.

The Senior Foursomes team also were in action travelling to Masserene on Saturday 5th for their first round match, they have a lot of work to do if they are to have a chance to qualify for the next round having lost all matches against a very strong Masserene team.

On a brighter note though the Miele team played their first match against Mahee Island on Sunday and were the winners and now proceed to play Greenore in the next round. The Miele is a very different format with half the team playing at home and the other half playing away in a fourball competition but is much enjoyed by all the players.
