McKibbin sets record at Rory McIlroy course
Newtownabbey golfing star of the future Tom McKibbin has set a course record on Rory McIlroy’s old stomping ground.
The 11-year-old shot 28 at the nine-hole Moneyreagh course - Rory’s former home. Robinhall House, is now a golfing retreat and the diverse design at the County Down facility makes it a real challenge for lovers of the game.
McKibbin, who was named Junior Sportsperson of the Year at Newtownabbey Council’s Sports Awards earlier this year, was taking part in a charity event at the weekend.
Tom tweeted: “I now officially hold the course record at @robinhallhouse !!! That wasn’t a goal I set for this year! #bonus.”
The course record was previously held by professional, Paul Gray.
