Paddy pips rest for the top spot

The winner of this week’s competition at Silverwood was Paddy McKeown.

Playing on heavy ground and with a lot of work taking place on the greens and fairways, conditions were far from easy for all the competitors.

Paddy’s return of 39 points was enough to win on a better back nine, he had 19 points on his front nine which included two birdies on the 1st and 7th holes, four pars on the 2nd 4th 8th and 9th holes, one single bogey at the 6th hole, and two double bogeys on the 3rd and 5th holes.

His back seven holes of two under gross contained an excellent eagle on the 11th hole, two birdies on the 13th and 18th holes, two pars at the 14th and 15th holes, and two bogeys at the 10th and 12th holes for 20 points and better back seven score.

In second place was 20 handicapper Thomas Marley with 39 points, Thomas had a great front nine of 23 points which included four pars with the remaining holes played in one over par, his back seven holes contained three pars, one double bogey and three bogeys.

Third with 38 points was Albert Porter, playing of his 22 handicap he had 21 points on his front nine.

The gross prize was won by Desmond Skelton with a two over par gross score.Dessie went round the front nine in four over par, his back seven holes were a lot better with two birdies and five pars at the remaining holes.

Fourth prize was won by David Sloan with 37 points while Michael Frazer was fifth with 37 points .

The senior prize was won by Jim Haddock with 37 points.
