HOCKEY: Ballyclare's Beattie and Dickey sizzle against Cookstown

Strikes by Rebekah Beattie and Suzanne Dickey ensured Ballyclare Ladies collected full Senior 1 points with a 2-1 home win over Cookstown Ladies.

After only four minutes the locals were in front, when Beattie rammed the ball into the net following fine approach play by Jordan Jones.

But eight minutes into the second session the scores were level when the Tyrone girls netted from open play, but this was soon cancelled out when Rebecca Campbell supplied the pass for Dickey to net what proved to be the winner.

“Cookstown had beaten us 3-1 at their ground so we knew that we would have to work hard for the points,” said Coulter. “We were rather sluggish in the first half and were fortunate to be only one down at the break, but we upped the pace after the interval and were deserved winners.

“Kerry McLeod was a threat on the right wing, while Jordan Jones and Jessica West combined effectively up front, but the Girl of the Game was Suzanne Dickey who worked her socks off in midfield.”
