JUDO: Clubmark award for Kookateki

Kookateki Judo Club, based at Whiteabbey Primary School, have recently been awarded the prestigious Clubmark NI award.

Awarded by Sport Northern Ireland, in conjunction with Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, this quality standard award recognises high quality junior sports club and the contribution they make to the development of sport in Northern Ireland.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg was delighted to present Jonathan and Wendy Cooke of Kootateki with their certificate. “This is a fantastic achievement for Kookateki, who are the first judo club within the Borough to achieve the Clubmark award,” he said. “We are extremely proud of the work they have done over the years and the opportunities they have provided for talented young athletes to develop.”

In order to gain Clubmark NI accreditation, clubs are required to meet a range of criteria including effective management, quality coaching, competition and safety.
