Late equaliser denies Moyle all three points

Liverpool SC 2 V 2 Moyle FCTHIS was a game that Moyle needed to win and they thought they had done enough until Liverpool, who never quit pushing for an equaliser, scored late in injury time.

The first half was very much one of both sides cancelling each other out.

Liverpool came close to scoring in the eighth minute when they hit the post but Moyle were able to contain everything that came at them.

Paddy Black was having a great game in midfield and Ryan McKillop worked tirelessly up and down the right wing. Liverpool were the better team for the first 25 minutes but Moyle were unlucky when Eddie McCloskey had an effort blocked on the half hour and Eddie and Benny McCarry saw goal bound efforts blocked a minute later.

Liverpool had a good effort in the 34th minute but Donal McCloy was in outstanding form in nets. Moyle had a penalty shout in the 36th minute but it fell on deaf ears.

Moyle were in the ascendancy now and they saw chances fall to Conleth McCaughan, and Benny McCarry who hit the bar with the keeper beaten.

Liverpool pushed up and should have scored but Stephen McAfee was there to rescue Moyle with a goal line clearance.

The second half started with Moyle on the front foot but Liverpool had the best chances to score with Donal McCloy almost beaten by a lob in the 47th minute but he managed to flick it over the bar.

In the 58th minute Moyle took the lead when a header back to the Liverpool keeper was misdirected and Ryan McKillop had a tap in.

Liverpool responded by pushing for an equaliser but Moyle held firm with Darren McKillop in outstanding form in the centre of defence.

In the 75th minute Moyle went two up when a series of passes between Sol Fox, Eddie McCloskey, and Ryan McKillop saw the ball squared to Conleth McCaughan who was unmarked at the edge of the box and he shot low past the keeper.

Liverpool moved to have three forwards and they looked dangerous with every set piece.

The Moyle defence was coping well but they could do nothing to prevent Liverpool pulling a goal back with a header in the 81st minute. It was all Liverpool now as they pushed for a second goal.

Donal McCloy pulled off two fantastic saves to keep Moyle ahead. Moyle had a couple of chances to score a third but couldn't find the net.

Just when Moyle thought they had done enough Liverpool popped up with dubious corner decision and found the net from it. Moyle were gutted as the goal was scored in the seventh minute of injury time.

The second half was played at a much higher intensity than the first and even though Moyle thought they had gained the points all credit must be given to Liverpool who never quit pushing for goals and were rewarded with the late goal.
