Local successes at Gymnast of the Year awards night

DEDICATED gymnasts from east Antrim have enjoyed success at Gymnastics Northern Ireland's inaugural awards ceremony.

Among the prize recipients at the Gymnast of the Year 2009 event at the Long Gallery, Stormont, were Carrick’s Jennifer Bennett, who was presented with the Gymnastics and Movement for People with Disabilities Award and Glengormley’s Holly Hamill, who received the Rhythmic Gymnastics Award

A Lifetime Contribution to Northern Ireland Gymnastics Honorary Award was presented to Bob Black, Larne

The management board and staff of GNI worked hard to make the evening special and highlight the success of their modernisation programme that is resulting in extended and improved services to its long-standing affiliated clubs.

Special guests included representatives from British Gymnastics, Paul Garber, President; Mark Gannon, Director of Development, and Sport Northern Ireland representatives, Alan Moneypenny, Vice Chair and Brian McCargo, Council Member.
