Maxwell takes fifth spot in Donadea 50k ultra-trail
The action kicked off on Saturday, with 16 club members completing the Larne parkrun. Greg Lavery completed the 5k course in 19:42 (second), before Daniel Girvin (20:39) and Drew Girvin (21:35) took third and fourth respectively. Chris Davis continued his training for the upcoming AES Larne Half Marathon, with a 24:13 (11th) finish, while Catherine Maxwell took nearly one minute off her previous best on the course, when crossing the line in 27:41 (3rd lady).
There were also good runs by Patrick Campbell (24th, 27:44), Karen McConnell (4th lady, 27:44), Sandy Plumb (30th, 29:18), Jacque Craig (7th lady, 29:52), Cyndy Hay (8th lady, 32:33), Caeli McLoughlin (9th lady, 32:43), Hannah Girvin (10th lady, 33:07), Leah Girvin (11th lady, 33:07), Angela Burns (12th lady, 34:00) and Caolifhinn McLoughlin (14th lady, 40:45).

Hide AdEast Coast’s Justin Maxwell and Matthew Hewitt travelled to County Kildare for Saturday’s Donadea 50k ultra-trail race, which also incorporated the AAI National 50k Championships. Both men performed well with Maxwell securing fifth (3:17:24), while Hewitt recorded 4:35:19 to take 72nd place.
On Sunday, East Coast AC were well represented at the NiRunning Five-Mile Trail Race in Ballyboley Forest.
James Brown led the black and yellow vests home in 27:09 (3rd place), with Nat Glenn (28:09) following exactly one minute later, securing fourth overall and the Vet40 category prize.
Andy Guy completed the route in 29:11 (8th place), ahead of James Robinson, who ran 30:54 (15th place). Drew Girvin returned in 32:51 (25th place). Allyson O’Toole (33:41), Penny Lindsay (33:57) took second and third in the ladies’ race, follwed by Alex Robertson in 34:20 (34th place). Janice Plumb came home in 34:46 (4th place lady) and alongside the aforementioned O’Toole and Lindsay, secured the ladies team prize for East Coast AC.
