McArdle goal caps win

Before Saturday’s win, Bann saw off Attical 1-11 to 0-9.

Getting off to a good start, Devlin sent the ball over to open the scoring.

Although four early wides were shot by Clann, good play from McCusker and McGarry set Liam Devlin up for his second point, giving Bann a two point lead. Finding a free man, Attical took their first score with a point from a tight angle.

Clann na Banna began to attack again with play from Paddy Feeney to Michael Feeney, laying the ball off to Devlin to score his third point. A good run from Mallon resulted in McCusker pointing from distance, adding another score to Clann’s lead.

Attical nicked a point but Stephen McArdle pointed a free-kick awarded to Clann na Banna from the left side of goal, making the score 5-2.

After a breaking ball on the side of the box, McArdle added another score for the Clann side. With good pressure from the Clann’s back-line, the ball was played forward and Gillen pointed close range free to extend their lead.

After being set up by McArdle, Michael Feeney scored another point, to give Bann a six point half-time lead.

Attical started the second half with two points to narrow the gap to four.

However, with a good run forward from McGrath, McCusker who scored his second for the Clann. McArdle added another point from the edge of the square.

Good play from Attical resulted in a score from play and another point from close range. With Attical winning possession, they further narrowed the gap to three points, sending the ball over.

Another Attical point left only two points in it. Downey played the ball to McArdle who scored another point but Attical replied with another point from play.

Bann were then reduced to 14 men with a red card for McCusker but a last minute goal from McArdle settled the game.
