Glenn McCormick happy with Irish MX2 results, despite the pain

East Antrim’s Glenn McCormick was in the wars last week after crashing his mountain bike and dislocating his shoulder.

But the Gleno teenager rode through the pain barrier at round seven of the Irish MX2 championship at Gormanstown north Dublin, and defended his championship lead with two wins and a second place from his three races on the Watts motorcycles/Agnew Recovery KTM.

“I qualified third for my races and in the first one led the MX2 class from start to finish and finished third overall,” he said.

“Things didn’t go well at the start of race two and I had to fight hard to finish a close second by the flag.

“I was glad race three went to plan because my shoulder was getting worse.

“In the end it was a comfortable victory and I am glad I made the effort. It was worth all the pain to defend my lead in the title race.”
