Motorcycling star to help Tiny Life

HAVING made his name in the 2010 Irish Clubmans Championships, 18 year old motorcycling star Timmy Elwood, from Lisburn will be sporting a new logo on his helmet for this year’s racing calendar.

Elwood has linked up with local charity TinyLife and will be blazing a trail for Northern Ireland’s premature and sick babies this year. Timmy’s sponsors House of Elliott and Magic Bullet both based in Lisburn are also lending their support to the campaign.

Timmy said: “This is a charity close to my heart as both my sister, my uncle and cousin were all born prematurely. My cousin arrived 14 weeks early weighing 1.5lbs – not even the size of a bag of sugar. I’m hoping that my fans will also show their support for TinyLife, they can do so by buying a little pin badge or wristband.”

Fundraising Manager for TinyLife, Valerie Cromie commented: “It is wonderful to see a young person so committed to raising funds for TinyLife. We are delighted to have Timmy on board, he will be helping us reach a new audience. Timmy is a talented young sportsman with great prospects for his future, we look forward to watching him progress in his motorcycling career.”

The Elwood camp will also be holding a fundraising ‘Night at the Races’ on Friday February 25 in The Tannery, 6 Chestnut Hill Road, Moira.

TinyLife, Northern Ireland’s premature and vulnerable baby charity provides practical and emotional support to the parents of premature and sick babies. Every day in Northern Ireland 5 babies are born prematurely. Some of the babies supported by TinyLife are born as early as 24 weeks and weigh as little as 1lb.
