Looking back... British Legion considers inter-denominational service in Rathcoole

The issue arose when arrangements for Remembrance Day services were being discussed.

It was suggested that instead of members attending a morning service in a Church of Ireland church and an evening service in a Presbyterian church, as usual, Roman Catholic and Protestant clergy in the district could be invited to take part in a shared service.

However, it was felt that there was insufficient time to make the necessary arrangements for Remembrance Day in November.

It was agreed that delegates would seek the support of all branches in the district for such a service.
