Orange hall for Whitehead
Whitehead Urban Council approved the construction of an Orange hall at Edward Road in July 1960.
The council also agreed to consider a proposed extension to the local high school.
The council was asked to accept a recommendation for a £700 band stand at the seaside town’s promenade.

Hide AdMembers agreed to approach the Northern Ireland Tourist Board to determine whether or not grant aid would be available.
Meanwhile, there was drama in Carrick when six yachtsmen were thrown into the sea when their boats capsized.
The incident occurred at the end of a race after the yachts had crossed the finishing line.
Two motorboats rushed to the scene and the sailors were pulled from the water.
