Pond Park pupils enjoy triple win at Irish Championships
POND Park Primary School were celebrating a triple success this week after P6 Pupils, Leah Bethel and Daniel Mulholland, took three of the top Awards, becoming 2013 Irish Minor Schools Swimming Champions at the Irish Schools Swimming Championships recently held at the Leisureland Centre in Galway.
The Championships bring together the top young swimmers from Schools throughout Ireland, following their performances at the Regional Championships across the country, held earlier in the year.
Leah, already a double Ulster Schools Champion, took the Gold medal position in both her backstroke and freestyle events while Daniel, himself a silver medalist at the Ulster Minor Schools Championships, went one better at the National Gala becoming Irish Schools Champion in the Boys Freestyle event.
Despite their young years, both Leah and Daniel train long hours each week in their pursuit of swimming excellence and are thoroughly deserving of their triple successes at the Irish Minor Schools Swimming Championships.
