Swift are crowned league champions

New league champions The Swift this week eased to a 9-5 win over Greenisland Working Men’s Social Club.

With their nearest rivals being held to a draw, Paul Roberts’ team clinched the title with three matches to spare. With session wins of 5-2 and 4-3, the hosts controlled this match from the beginning.

Despite an early scare, last year’s champions Greenisland Galacticos emerged as 11-3 winners over Hitmen and Her. Shaun McAlister and Chris Carson recorded well taken hat-tricks backed up by Trevor Whiteside and Dean McDonagh who both took two from two.

The Scorpions played host to Whitehead Trojans and the two teams had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere, the Doagh Weapons travelled to take on Alpha and came away with a 9-5 victory. The Teddy Bears won 8-6 against Greenisland Colts, while the Cowboys and Whitehead Spartans drew 7-7.
