Terry holds nerve as INF seal hat-trick of wins

The INF won their third team event of the season when they won the 5-a-side title after a thrilling and nail biting final against the Celtic which went to the last dart.

The preliminary round pitted two of the early favourites against each other as the INF A team played Drumgor in the first match and the second preliminary match seen Eire Og B take on the INF B team .

INF A come from 2-1 down to win the last two singles matches with Terry Morrow hitting a 15 darter against Eamon Duff before Roy White hit double 11 to complete the win as he and Paul White won the second pairs match against Joe Duff and Shane Lennon to complete a 5-2 win.

INF B went into a 4-1 lead after the singles with Paul Callaghan being the only victors for the Og’s. They kept themselves in the tie when they won the first pairs match as Tina Power and Paul Callaghan got the better of Marty Murray and David Culbert, but it was Vincey Culbert Sr who finished off the match in style as he hit the bull for an excellent 130 checkout as he partnered his son Lee to victory for a 5-2 win overall .

In the first quarter final it was the A and B teams of the INF meeting and it went the way of the A team as they took four of the five single matches as well as the first doubles match to claim a comfortable 5-1 win.

The second quarter-final seen Eire Og go head to head with Clann Eireann and despite winning the bull Clann Eireann were unable to use this to their advantage as Eire Og went on to claim all five single games for a 5-0 win.

The second half of the draw saw the Stables go up against hosts the Forresters and it was a much tighter affair than the other quarter-final matches.

After five singles wins for Hugh Campbell, Micky Lamb and Conor Mallon the Stables led 3-2 as Conor Magee and Micky McConville replied for the Forresters.

The first two pairs games were shared before Conor Mallon and Nathan Lamb got the better of Conor Quinn and Conor Magee to claim the victory.

In the semi they played Celtic who took all five single games against the Trojans with the highlight being John Bishorek Sr 102 checkout for a 15 dart leg win in the third leg.

The first semi-final saw Eire Og race into a commanding lead over the INF A team as they took a 3-0 lead with wins for Hugh Heaney over Dan Cahoon, Mark McLernon over Seamy Tallon and John Cinnamond over Paul White.

It was Roy White who kept his team in it as he got an important win over Chris Cinnamond before Terry Morrow put one between the sides after the singles with a win over Micky Dunwoodie.

The tide had seem to have swung the INF’s way as Seamy and Dan took the first pairs match before a bull finish by Paul White seen him and Roy put the INF in front. In the final pairs match Terry Morrow and Dan Cahoon scored heavily and took control to hit the winning double for a 24 dart leg to put them through 5-3.

The second semi-final started the same as the first with Celtic racing into a 3-0 lead with wins for Adrian Hutchinson over Gareth Bunting, Gerard Crewe who had a 126 checkout on the bull as he beat Nathan Lamb and a 15 dart leg by John Bishorek Jr over Conor Mallon.

But wins for Hugh Campbell over Dee McConville and Michael Lamb over John Bishorek Sr kept Stables in the tie. It only took two pairs matches though to see the Celtic through as Adrian and Gerard teamed up before John Jr and Dee McConville secured a 5-2 win overall.

The final turned out every bit as exciting as expected going right to the wire.

Dan Cahoon took the first leg beating Adrian Hutchinson before Terry Morrow doubled the lead with victory over Dee McConville. John Bishorek Sr pulled one back with a win over Roy White but in match four it was Seamy Tallon who came out on top as he beat Gerard Crewe to make it 3-1 to the INF.

Things were looking good for the hosts as Paul White took a lead over John Jr but nine missed shots at double let John back into it and he made no mistake as he hit his double at the first attempt to leave it 3-2 to the INF.

It was the INF who went two in front again after the first pairs match as Dan and Terry teamed up to beat Adrian and Dee but the Celtic then started to find their rhythm as John Sr and Gerard took the second pairs match before some big scores by Adrian and John Jr seen them level the match.

It took a 1001 triples leg of darts to settle the winners as Dee, John Sr and Gerard were up against Terry, Roy and Seamy.

As the tension mounted it was Terry who stepped up to hit double two to claim the trophy and finish off was another excellent nights entertainment in the Craigavon District Darts League.
