Two sides involved in county finals

The Clans will face Granemore at Abbey Park in the final of the senior reserve championship (5.30pm) and Éire Óg will also travel to Armagh City to play Madden in the all county Intermediate Reserve final at Pearse Óg Park (5.30).

Éire Óg will be attempting to win their second reserve title in as many seasons. Last year the Pinebank outfit won the Junior Reserve all county title to add to their senior victory and division four win. A clever squad rotation system implemented by Éire Óg’s management team of Mickey Devlin and Oliver Cormican has seen the Pinebank club flourish and sustain big numbers of players attending training.

Although the Craigavon side narrowly missed out on securing a place in the top half of this season’s second division, they could be fancied to land the division two shield should they finish in the top two in their section.

Meanwhile, Clan na Gael will have a star studded line out available for their Senior Reserve final on Saturday against Granemore. The Blues were missing several regulars when they played Ballymacnab in last season’s Senior Championship but this scenario has given them several first team options for Saturday evening’s all county final.

The Clans will face Granemore in Saturday’s showpiece and could include players like current Armagh panelist Stephan Campbell and former county players Barry O’Hagan and Diarmaid Marsden in their ranks. O’Hagan has been in impressive form for the Clans seniors since his return from Donegal side Glen Columbcille.

At senior level, the Francis Street side have recently sustained a four game unbeaten run and they would be keen to bring silverware to Davitt Park this season beginning with a ‘B’ championship title. Other players who could line out for the Blues are Mickey Austin and Sean Mackle. The Clans, would be favourites to beat Granemore.
