Witherspoon wins Snoddy Singles title
The All Saints man defeated club-mate Don Montgomery in the last four, before seeing off Chris Snoddy in the final.
The opening few ends of the showpiece match were tightly contested before Witherspoon provided the first big moment when he picked a four in the fifth end to take a 6-3 lead.

Hide AdSnoddy responded in the seventh with three to trail by a single shot. Witherspoon replied once again by winning a three and a one in the next two ends, leaving the title within touching distance. Snoddy trailed by five shots with three ends to play, but a score of three put him right back in contention with two to go.
Witherspoon’s attacking style paid dividends and gave him control of the penultimate end. Snoddy attempted to play his own toucher into the ditch where the jack lay, but he missed his bowl and his opponent drew another shot to win the competition with an end to spare. He rounded off an excellent display by drawing another bowl in, to lift up a count of three and put the match out of Snoddy’s reach.
The other big winner on the night was Larne Adult Centre. It will receive a fantastic £300 after the kind donations made by spectators.
